Tamra for Social Development Organization (TSD) is an indigenous civil society organization that has been implementing community development programs for over 27 years across Oromia, Addis Ababa, Sidama, Central Ethiopia, and South Ethiopia regions. The organization is currently seeking qualified and motivated candidates for the following positions:

  • Job Grade: G2-S7
  • Reports To: Program Officer (with functional reporting to the Project Coordinator)
  • Salary: Negotiable
  • Number Required: 1

Role Summary: The social worker is responsible for supporting individuals and communities through direct services, advocacy, and community mobilization. This role involves assessing community needs, providing counseling and support services, facilitating access to resources and working to enhance the overall well-being and resilience of community members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the needs, strength and challenges of individuals and communities.
  • Identify and document community assets and resources.
  • Build partnerships with local stakeholders and support youth groups.
  • Monitor and evaluate program activities and submit reports to the Regional Project Officer.
  • Coordinate with other service providers.

About You

Qualifications and Experience:

  • MA/BA in Social worker, Public Health, Youth Development, Sociology, or related fields.
  • 2/4 years of relevant experience, preferably with an NGO, project, or program volunteer role.
  • Strong facilitation and training skills, particularly with youth.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic and Afaan Oromo are required.
  • Experience in Oromia region is an advantage.
