JJOB SUMMARY

The Social Worker for The Trifecta Effect of Data, HEWs, and Women’s Empowerment Project will play a crucial role in the effective execution of the project, collaborating closely with the Health Program Officer and other team members. The Social Worker will contribute to preparing work plans and budgets necessary for project implementation. She/he will actively participate in project activities, including regular data collection and supporting the empowerment of women through self-help groups and other community-based initiatives. Additionally, the role involves conducting regular site visits, monitoring project progress, and reporting accordingly, while assisting in strengthening the health extension program and advancing the use of community health data to improve health outcomes.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assists in the preparation of the annual project work plan and budget;
  • Facilitate the formation and functioning of women’s self-help groups Cluster Level Association and Federation to promote economic and social empowerment through ongoing training and visits to the program participants;
  • Facilitate the development of economic empowerment initiatives, such as income-generating activities within the self-help groups, HEWs, and VHLs
  • Effectively implement the health data collection and reporting
  • Work closely with community leaders and stakeholders to strengthen the health extension program, women empowerment, and data management
  • Prepares and submits weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual plans and reports to the program officer,
  • Participates in developing case studies of good practice for both internal and external dissemination;
  • Participates in conducting frequent monitoring visits to the projects and assesses their performance-setting criteria;
  • Documents lesson learned, case studies, best practices, and other innovative approaches;
  •  Support in developing need-based proposals to improve the lives of the program participants and strengthen the health outcomes in the project area
  •  Support Health Extension Workers (HEWs) and Village Health Leaders in delivering essential health services.
  •  Adhere to the PSEAH Policy and Code of Conduct, and report all concerns of any suspected violation of these policies.
  •  Stick to the WEEMA HR Manual, Child Protection Policy, Gender Strategy, Whistleblowing Policy, Safety and Security Policy and PSEAH Policy.
  •  Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Officer.

Working Conditions:

This position requires fieldwork, including regular travel to communities within Damboya. The Social Worker will work closely with the Health Program Officer and other team members in a collaborative environment.

About You

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • BA, BSc/Diploma in Social Work, community development, public health, health information or related disciplines

EXPERIENCE

  • 2/4 years of relevant work experience.

TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS 

  • A minimum of 2/4 years of experience working in community development, social work, or health Extension programs in the primary health care system, preferably in rural settings.
  • Has basic computer skill
  • Knowledge of local culture and languages in Kembata is an asset.
  • Empathy and positive regard for others in verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Punctual, providing respect, collaborative problem solving, and honest communication.
  • Trusting relationships by acting with integrity, courtesy, and responsibility.
  • Good English and Amharic language skills; ability to communicate in local languages is desirable.
  • Good communication skill
  • Meet all required standards of confidentiality and safety.
