The Role
The Treasury, Cash & FX Lead is responsible for safeguarding the company’s liquidity, optimizing working capital, and actively managing foreign exchange (FX) exposure.
The role ensures that cash availability supports both operational and strategic needs while balancing risk, cost, and compliance. It plays a critical role in navigating volatile macroeconomic conditions by enabling informed decision-making through robust cash forecasting, disciplined payment prioritization, and proactive FX management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Liquidity & Cash Management
- Own the company’s short- and medium-term liquidity position, ensuring sufficient cash to meet business obligations
- Develop and maintain rolling cash forecasts (weekly, monthly, and medium-term) with realistic assumptions and scenario analysis
- Monitor actual cash flows against forecasts, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions
- Establish and enforce payment prioritization frameworks aligned with liquidity constraints and business priorities
2. Working Capital Management
- Drive receivables discipline in collaboration with Finance Operations, Sales, and Commercial teams to improve collections
- Monitor inventory levels, turnover, and slow-moving stock, partnering with Supply Chain to optimize cash tied in inventory
- Oversee payables planning, balancing supplier relationships with liquidity preservation
- Track and report key working capital KPIs (DSO, DPO, inventory days)
- Lead initiatives to improve overall cash conversion cycle
3. FX Exposure & Risk Management
- Identify, quantify, and monitor foreign exchange exposure from imports, supplier contracts, and foreign currency obligations
- Maintain a comprehensive FX exposure tracker (committed, forecasted, and potential exposures)
- Develop and implement FX mitigation strategies, including pricing adjustments, contractual protections, and timing strategies
- Provide clear FX impact analysis to support pricing, procurement, and funding decisions
- Coordinate FX transactions and exposure management with banks within approved risk limits
4. Treasury Governance & Controls
- Establish and maintain treasury policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Ensure disciplined, transparent, and compliant treasury operations
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and approval trails for all treasury activities
- Support the Head of Finance with treasury insights, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations
5. Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead and develop the Treasury and Working Capital team
- Set clear objectives, priorities, and performance expectations
- Coach team members on cash forecasting, FX analysis, and disciplined execution
- Ensure proper segregation of duties and operational resilience within the treasury function
6. Cross-Functional & External Coordination
- Partner with FP&A, Financial Control, Finance Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Procurement teams
- Align cash, FX, and working capital strategies with overall business plans
- Act as the primary finance interface with banks and financial institutions
- Support management with data-driven insights on liquidity, risk, and financial exposure
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience
- 7–10 years of experience in treasury, cash management, or financial risk roles
- Strong experience in cash forecasting, working capital management, and FX exposure analysis
- Experience in volatile FX environments or import-dependent businesses is highly preferred
Functional Competencies
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
- Solid understanding of treasury controls and risk management practices
