About the Job
Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD) is an Ethiopian Development Organization established in 2005 and reregistered at the Agency for Civil Society Organizations as an Ethiopian development Organization with Certificate no. 0321 under the Proc. No. 1113/2019. ECDD is working with other organizations to promote and facilitate the inclusion of persons with disabilities and disability issues in mainstream service delivery and development programs envisioning an Inclusive Ethiopia where persons with disabilities exercise the same rights and have access to the same services and opportunities enjoyed by other citizens.
ECDD has partnered with USAID to implement “Promoting Rights and Inclusion for Disability Empowerment (PRIDE)” from December 20, 2021, to December 19, 2024, with a major goal of the project, which is to increase the economic empowerment of youth with disabilities. The PRIDE project will address both the supply and demand side of the challenge. On the supply side, the project will work with the Federal and Regional TVET Agencies and individual TVET institutions to demonstrate how TVETs can recruit, assess, support, and provide vocational skills training to youth with disabilities. Community-Based Training (CBT) opportunities will be provided in smaller towns, for youth with disabilities for on-the-job skills training at the community level in a non-institutional setting, using practicing local master craftsmen and women as trainers. On the demand side of the challenge, many employers are either unwilling or lack the knowledge of how to employ job-seekers with disabilities. The project will work with the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) and individual companies located in Industrial Parks, and with member companies of the Ethiopian Business and Disability Network (EBDN), to increase the number of employers employing persons with disabilities. To this end, the Communications and Knowledge Management Officer is responsible for planning, developing, and executing a variety of communications, knowledge products, and marketing programs in support of the PRIDE and other projects being implemented by ECDD.
