Ethiopian Veterinary Association (EVA) is an autonomous not-for-profit and non-political organization that has been operating in Ethiopia since 1974, with registry number 0495. Its overall objective is to advance the veterinary profession, promote the public interest, and advocate for a quality and competitive livestock industry in Ethiopia. EVA envisions becoming one of the top 5 professional associations in Ethiopia and 10 in Africa by 2026. It possesses extensive experience in policy support, capacity building, partnership, development and execution of various projects funded by large international organizations such as the European Union, USAID, etc.

Recently, EVA has launched the implantation of the EU-funded RESTORE project in 8 Ethiopian Regions to improve livestock health and economic stability of the communities severely affected by natural and man-made crises. The project is a joint venture implemented in partnership with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Regional States, with a broader private sector involvement.

Therefore, EVA is looking for a competent, committed and professional staff to provide technical support for the effective implantation of the EVA-led components of the RESTORE project.

Project Summary

The RESTORE project is an EU-funded, 4-year comprehensive initiative aimed at revitalizing livestock health and productivity through restoration of animal health facilities, fostering public-private partnerships, and enhancing animal feed production/management within 8 Regional States of Ethiopia. By improving livestock health and productivity, the project aims to significantly contribute to the livelihoods and economic stability of the local communities.

Position Summary

The Webmaster (ICT Expert) will be responsible for upgrading and managing EVA’s website, ensuring server performance, maintaining security protocols, and optimizing website performance. The role also includes social media analysis and addressing any other IT-related issues that arise. The webmaster will support the RESTORE project by enhancing EVA’s digital presence and ensuring smooth IT operations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Website Management:
• Upgrade and enhance EVA’s website, ensuring it is user-friendly, responsive, and meets modern web standards.
• Perform regular updates and maintenance of the website, including content management, plugin updates, and troubleshooting.
• Server Management
• Monitor server performance to ensure optimal operation and uptime.
• Manage cloud infrastructure, ensuring our news portal’s high availability, scalability, and security.
• Manage server configurations, backups, and restore procedures.
• Design and Development
• Develop and maintain the website using modern web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.).
• Deployment
• Deploy and manage web applications on the server.
• Security Maintenance
• Implement and maintain security protocols to protect EVA’s digital assets from cyber threats.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Performance Optimization
• Analyze and optimize website performance, including page loading speeds, user experience, and overall site functionality.
• Use tools and techniques to monitor and enhance website speed and reliability.
• Content Management
• Manage and update website content through CMS platforms (WordPress).
• Troubleshooting Monitoring
• Identify and resolve technical issues and bugs.
• Monitor server performance and implement necessary optimizations and upgrades.
• Strategy Development
• Develop and implement effective social media strategies to increase brand awareness and engagement.
• Backup and Recovery
• Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Social Media Analysis
• Monitor and analyze social media channels to gather insights and trends that can inform EVA’s digital strategy.
• Integrate social media platforms with the website to maximize reach and engagement.
• Monitor and engage with followers, respond to comments and messages, and foster a strong online community.
• IT Support
• Provide IT support for any technical issues related to EVA’s digital infrastructure.
• Engage in additional IT-related tasks as required, including software updates, network troubleshooting, and user support.
• Additional Duties
• Develop and maintain documentation for website operations, security protocols, and IT procedures.
• Assist in the development and implementation of EVA’s IT policies and strategies.
• Support the training of staff on the use of IT resources and the website.
• Coordinate with external service providers and other bodies for IT-related services.
• Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the overall IT strategy of the organization.
• Undertake any other IT-related duties of EVA as may be assigned by the coordinator, EVA’s CEO and Management.

Duty Station: Addis Ababa may travel to project intervention regions as needed.

Terms of Employment: One year, renewable based on strong performance
