Union of Ethiopian Women and Children Associations (UEWCA) is a non-governmental, apolitical, non-religious consortium of 80 Women/Girls and Children-focused local CSOs that are engaged on women and girls Empowerment and advancement of Gender Equality in all regional states and city administrations of the country. It was established in 2010 as a consortium to empower and voice the voice of its beneficiaries and member CSOs as well as capacitate and coordinate the efforts of member CSOs for the realization of their common goal, which is ensuring gender equality, and empowerment of women, girls, and children.
- Duty Station: Thuldre Woreda, project target area
- Salary: Based on the organization’s salary scale
- Contract Duration: One year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Community Engagement:
- Organize forums, interface meetings, and consultations to enhance interaction between citizens, government officials, and service providers.
- Ensure that marginalized groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities, have a voice in local decision-making processes.
- Monitor Public Service Delivery:
- Track and assess the quality and accessibility of productive Safety net Service.
- Collect and document community feedback to ensure services meet the needs of the population.
- Capacity Building:
- Provide training to community leaders, citizens, and local government staff on social accountability practices and citizen engagement, productive safety net, and food security.
- Support government offices and service providers in implementing accountability measures.
- Complaint and Grievance Handling:
- Establish effective complaint mechanisms and ensure that grievances related to service delivery are addressed transparently and promptly.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare detailed reports on social accountability activities, challenges, and successes at the woreda level.
- Document lessons learned and best practices to inform future programming.
- Advocacy and Awareness:
- Raise awareness among local communities about their rights to food security.
- Advocate for improvements in service delivery based on citizen feedback and monitoring results.
About You
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Economics, Management, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in social accountability, governance, or community development, preferably at the woreda or kebele level.
- Skills:
- Strong facilitation, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including local government officials, community members, and service providers.
- Knowledge of local governance structures and social accountability mechanisms.
- Fluency in the local language and good command of English (both written and spoken).
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
