Position Summary:

The Woreda Project Coordinator is responsible to plan, coordinate, implement, and monitor all interventions and activities related to community engagement, health literacy, advocacy, and social accountability at USAID ECA woredas. In addition, s/he is expected to work closely with ECA consortium partners, woreda government sectors, and other implementing partners in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and sharing of lessons and learning of project activities and interventions at woreda, Primary Health Care Unit, and kebele levels.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and administrative oversight to Community Outreach workers
  • Work closely with USAID ECA consortium partners, woreda health office and other sectors to plan, coordinate, implement, and monitor USAID ECA project activities such as community engagement, health literacy, advocacy, social accountability systems and platforms
  • Lead the capacity enhancement of Non-State Actors, Woreda Health Office, Primary Health Care Units, health centers, and health extension workers on community engagement, health literacy, advocacy, and social accountability systems and platforms
  • Plan and execute various trainings on community engagement, health literacy, advocacy, social accountability and systems at woreda, PHCU, and kebele levels
  • Work closely with Woreda Health Office, Community Health Program Unit, HEWs, and kebele leadership to implement community engagement strategies, health literacy, advocacy, and social accountability systems and platforms
  • Map, capacitate, and engage existing Non-State Actors including CBOs, FBOs, CSOs, private sectors and community structures in the woreda to ensure accountability, transparency, and responsiveness of the health system
  • Ensure project activities and interventions are implemented as per the standard and the plan
  • Work closely with the woreda government sectors to strengthen the multi-sectoral coordination platforms at woreda and kebele levels
  • Regularly conduct follow-up visits, supportive supervision, performance review meetings, and experience sharing jointly with community out-reach workers and government stakeholders
  • Prepare and submit biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports to the project coordinator
  • Identify, document, and share success stories, lessons and learnings
  • Any responsibilities assigned by the supervisor

Duty station: Woredas of project implementation

About You

Qualification: 

  • At least degree in health fields, Social Science, or related fields with experience related to community engagement and empowerment, social accountability, social behaviour change
  • More than three years of demonstrated coordination experience in project planning, implementation, and monitoring at least woreda level
  • Familiarity and demonstrated experience with Ethiopian Health Extension Program including the Social Accountability, community engagement, community structures
  • Demonstrated experiences on capacity development of Non-State Actors, community structures
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, promote team work and effort
  • Strong training and meeting facilitation skill is required
  • Experience of working with local governments, civil society organizations, and familiarity with the local context, culture, and language is desirable Able to work with minimum supervision.
