Amref Health Africa would like to recruit a Project Assistant for its Ethiopia’s Community Empowerment for Children’s Wellbeing” in Gullele sub city of Addis Ababa city administration. The job holders will be based in Addis Ababa.

Purpose of the Job:  

The main purpose of the job is to implement Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia’s Community Empowerment for Children’s Wellbeing project which mainly focuses on reduction the risk of streetism and exploitation among children living in Gullele Sub city; woreda 04 & 06 (Addis Ababa) through family economic strengthening, education, participation and protection.

She/he will report to the Project Manager and works with the other project staffs to implement the stated project in Addis Ababa city administration

Terms of employment: 3 months with possibility of extension based on availability of fund and performance

 Key Responsibilities:

·         Preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly detail implementation work plan

·         Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to the project officer.

·         Implement the project activities together with the project and partners staffs like urban health, education, women and children, administration offices, communities and other partners.

·         Collect data on children, families and other related information

·         Conduct regular follow up, supervision and evaluation of the project implementation

·         Provide training for the children families on IGA, children safety, health prevention, protection and others.

·         Conduct regular meeting with partners staffs, children’s family and others

·         Facilitate to effect payment according to Amref health Africa’s financial policy and procedure for project activities

·         Identify project beneficiaries and keep the necessary documentation, check list, pictures and registration

–         Facilitate, develop and document best practices, lessons, case stories, visual and audio materials of project work

–         Use readily available materials, guidelines, manuals and others to ensure quality of the project implementation

·         Conduct and organize community training as required

·         Participate on project implementation, monitoring and evaluation activities

·         Perform any other assignment as requested by the supervisor

Qualifications and Competencies:

·         BSC/BA in sociology, phycology, economics

·         Additional training on Child protection, IGA and Business skill are important

·         Minimum of 1years practical experience on child sponsor ship, child protection projects.

·         Experience in IGA or Family Income Generating is an advantage

·         NGO experience is an advantage

·         Good interpersonal & communication skills

·         Good knowledge and experience on urban project implementation specially in Addis Ababa

–         Should be a team player, comfortable to accept advises and observe deadlines.

·         Excellent computer skills: MS applications

·         Data gathering and report writing skills

·         Highly interested to work on children and can be a role model for them

·         He/she can join the organization soon/ within a week/
