About the organization
The Well in Action (TWA) is an Ethiopian Resident Charity Organization. TWA intervention in Ethiopia is to contribute to sustainable improvement of living conditions of the small holder farmers and deprived people. This can be achieved by performing projects which focus on improving agricultural productivity, and stimulating entrepreneurship that are implemented both in rural and urban contexts.
Job summary:
The Accountant is responsible for handling cash transactions, maintaining accurate cash registers, and preparing cash reports. He/she also process invoices and payments, reconcile accounts, and assist in financial report preparation. In addition, he/she provide support in ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures, assist in audits, collaborate on budgeting and forecasting, and support the preparation of donor financial reports.
Responsibilities and tasks:
- Handle cash transactions, including receiving and disbursing funds.
- Maintain accurate cash registers and reconcile cash balances.
- Prepare cash reports and ensure proper documentation.
- Monitor and manage petty cash funds.
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Maintain accurate records of accounts receivable and payable.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with financial policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Assist in internal and external audits.
- Provide support in implementing financial policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the finance team in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Support the preparation of donor financial reports.

Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (Peachtree or QuickBooks) and MS Office applications.
- Proficiency in using computer applications like Ms-word, Ms-excel etc
- Knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles.
- Good knowledge of IPSAS is preferable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in English and Amharic languages.
