YAFCO Trading PLC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Accountant for its four divisions and Accountant to the Cafeteria (Cafe) operation.

Chief Accountant to oversee and coordinate financial activities across its four divisions:

Technology Products Import & Distribution 2.Green Coffee Export 3.Roasted & Ground Coffee for Retail and Export 4.Cafeteria Operations

  • Accountant dedicated to the Cafeteria (Cafe) operations, YAFCO wants someone who can handle day‑to‑day bookkeeping, cost control, and basic financial reporting—while interfacing smoothly with both the Cafe Manager and your Head Office Chief Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• Record daily sales (cash/card) and expenses

• Post journal entries for payments, receipts, payroll allocations, etc.

• Manage petty cash and reconcile daily cash tills

  • Perform daily/weekly bank and till reconciliations

• Prepare and submit monthly P&L statements and variance analyses to the Chief Accountant

• Generate weekly sales and cost reports for the Café Manager

• Track food & beverage inventory levels and costs

• Calculate cost‑of‑goods‑sold (COGS) for menu items

• Investigate and report on variances between standard and actual costs

• Ensure adherence to Ethiopian tax (ERCA) regulations for the division

• Assist with preparation of division‑level tax filings and statutory reports

• Support external/internal audits by providing schedules and documentation

• Maintain cafe POS system integration’s with accounting software

• Identify and recommend process improvements for transaction recording and inventory tracking

• Assist in implementation of new café‑specific financial controls

• Work closely with the Café Manager on budget monitoring and cost‑saving initiatives

• Coordinate with procurement on invoice matching and supplier payments

• Support Head Office finance team during month‑end and year‑end close

• Technical Skills: Strong skills in journal entries, reconciliations, P&L analysis, inventory costing

• Analytical Ability: Able to identify cost variances, trends, and recommend corrective actions

• Systems Savvy: Comfortable configuring and using accounting and POS software; proficient in Microsoft Excel

• Integrity & Detail‑Orientation: Upholds high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical behavior

• Time Management: Ability to meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines in a fast‑paced environment

About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance,
  • Short courses or certification in Hospitality/Food & Beverage accounting
  • Level Years of Experience Notes
  • Required 3–4 years in a general accounting role Solid grounding in journal entries, reconciliations,
  • Preferred +1 year specifically in F&B, hospitality, or retail Familiarity with POS systems, inventory‐to‐cost workflows, petty cash management
  • Comfortable with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Experience with cafe/restaurant POS (e.g., Loyverse, Toast)
