Position Overview / Scope of Role:
The Corporate Marketing Director is responsible for leading the overall marketing, branding, and corporate communication function of Great Abyssinia Group (GAG) across all subsidiaries and business units. The role plays a strategic leadership role in strengthening the Group’s market presence, brand equity, customer engagement, and commercial competitiveness during the organization’s transformation and growth phase.
The position is responsible for developing and implementing a unified group-wide marketing and brand strategy that supports business growth, institutionalization, and market expansion. The role ensures consistent brand positioning, drives digital transformation initiatives, and supports strategic business projects including retail expansion and consumer-focused growth initiatives.
The Corporate Marketing Director also provides leadership and coordination support to subsidiary marketing functions to ensure alignment, professionalism, and execution excellence across the Group.
Top Roles and Responsibilities:
Group Marketing Strategy and Brand Leadership
• Develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive group-wide marketing and brand strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
• Define and strengthen brand positioning, architecture, and identity across the Group and subsidiaries.
• Ensure consistent brand standards, communication approaches, and market positioning across all business units.
• Build, protect, and enhance the reputation and visibility of the Group and its brands.
Corporate Branding and Reputation Management
• Lead corporate communication, public relations, media engagement, and reputation management activities.
• Ensure consistent brand expression across all internal and external communication channels.
• Strengthen corporate image and market perception through strategic communication initiatives.
• Manage crisis communication and reputation-related matters where necessary.
Marketing Execution and Commercial Growth Support
• Develop and oversee marketing plans and campaigns supporting key business initiatives and growth priorities.
• Support market expansion, customer acquisition, and revenue growth initiatives across subsidiaries.
• Drive customer engagement, retention, and loyalty enhancement initiatives.
• Support subsidiaries in developing market-specific marketing and go-to-market strategies.
Retail and Consumer Market Development
• Support marketing and expansion initiatives related to retail operations and consumer-focused business lines.
• Ensure strong market visibility, customer experience, and brand positioning for retail and FMCG-related operations.
• Contribute to successful launch and expansion of new products, services, and retail concepts.
Digital Marketing and Transformation Leadership
• Lead the Group’s digital marketing transformation initiatives.
• Oversee digital platforms, social media strategies, content marketing, and customer engagement channels.
• Promote data-driven marketing approaches and digital performance monitoring systems.
• Improve customer experience through modern marketing and communication practices.
Market Research and Business Intelligence
• Lead market research, competitor analysis, and consumer insight initiatives.
• Identify market trends, customer needs, and growth opportunities.
• Support product and service development through market intelligence and analysis.
Marketing Governance and Standardization
• Establish marketing policies, standards, and best practices across the Group.
• Ensure alignment and professionalism in marketing practices across subsidiaries.
• Standardize branding and communication guidelines where appropriate.
Cross-Functional Coordination and Business Support
• Work closely with sales, operations, strategy, and subsidiary leadership teams.
• Ensure marketing initiatives support overall business and commercial objectives.
• Facilitate coordination between corporate center and subsidiary marketing functions.
Budgeting and Marketing Resource Management
• Prepare and manage corporate marketing budgets and resource allocation.
• Ensure effective and efficient utilization of marketing investments.
• Monitor return on investment and marketing performance indicators.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
• Monitor marketing effectiveness, campaign performance, and brand visibility metrics.
• Prepare regular reports, presentations, and strategic updates for executive leadership.
• Provide recommendations to improve marketing effectiveness and market competitiveness.
Leadership and Team Development
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing corporate marketing team.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and capacity building support to subsidiary marketing teams.
• Establish clear accountability, performance expectations, and development plans.
Transformation and Institutionalization Support
• Support the Group’s transformation and institutionalization initiatives through modern marketing systems and practices.
• Drive innovation, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the marketing function.

Educational Qualification:
• Master’s Degree in Marketing, Economics, Business Administration, Management, or related field
• Bachelor’s Degree with exceptional and relevant experience may be considered
Experience:
• Minimum 10 years of progressive marketing experience
• At least 4–5 years in a senior leadership or management role
• Strong experience in brand strategy, digital marketing, and retail/FMCG marketing is highly preferred
• Experience in multi-company or group-level environments is highly desirable
• Experience supporting organizational transformation or business turnaround initiatives is an added advantage
• Demonstrated success in launching or expanding consumer brands, retail concepts, or market-focused initiatives is highly preferred
