About the Job

Context

Under the general supervision of the fleet manager for Addis Ababa and the direct supervision of the Logistics/ Fleet Assistant III, the successful candidate shall be responsible to carry out duties related to the organization’s movement activities.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Drives office vehicles for transport of authorized personnel and delivery of mail, documents, and other items,
  2. To keep vehicle (s) under his/her responsibility in perfect order, as well as the control of periodic maintenance and to report any problems needing assistance/repair, To execute the jobs assigned by his supervisor with efficiency and safety,
  3. Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident,
  4. Perform daily vehicle check-up of oil, water, battery brakes, tires etc. and look vehicle cleanliness; keep the logbook of each vehicle updated,
  5. Keep a HIGH degree of confidentiality and discreteness in discussions which involve IOM and its officials
  6. Compliance with security practices and radio checks as it pertains to the UNDSS security plans
  7. Perform daily input in travel log sheet including mileage, fuel consumption, destinations, and items in English,
  8. Coordinate the logistical needs as relates to ground transportation, accommodation, meals, medical and operational appointments, pre-departure medical checks and departures and /or arrivals.
  9. Ensure safety and security concerns and incidences are advised to the Field Office Coordinator and Security Assistant.
  10. Support the implementation of humanitarian response and voluntary repatriation programs as requested by the Office Coordinator.
  11. To process and collect travel documents from ARRA & other IOM partners.
  12. Escort refugees to/from the camps for resettlement or medical examinations as required,
  13. Assist in Logistics and operational activities of the sub-office,
  14. To process and collect shipments from customs, airport etc.
  15. Any other duties as may be assigned.

About You

Education

  • High school diploma/certificate from an accredited institution.
  • Valid national driver’s license of Category D1 and P2 or level Grade 4 with the ability to drive automobiles, buses, and trucks.
  • Possession of a Mechanical certificate from an accredited school is advantageous.
  • Certificate of good conduct from the police (required if selected).

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles
  • Good knowledge of routes within and around the duty station.

Skills

  • Knowledge of radio, email, telephone and other applications.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
  • Computer skill

Languages

  • Thorough knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of other local languages is an asset
