Main Roles
- Payroll preparation and timely disbursement of National staff:
- Timely settlement of taxes and pensions.
- Prepare salary expenses analysis and allocation of the same across projects.
- Prepare payroll analysis and Journals, post to Banana Accounting file.
- Handle staff fringe benefits and terminal payment and booking as per the National Personnel Regulation.
- Perform verification of payment and supporting documents of bank and cash payments for their completeness, accuracy and compliance to the provision.
- codification of bank and cash payment vouchers and preparation of journal vouchers; handle timely and correct posting of transactions from prime vouchers to the accounting system.
- perform monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts operated by the programme office.
- follow the timely settlement of travel and work advances given to staffs, partners, and consultants.
- Liaising with banks for all finance matters assigned by line manager
- Follow up on the timely settlement of staff and report advances long overdue
- Performs other duties as assigned by the line manager
About You
- Academic Qualification
- Minimum of BA degree in accounting.
- Training on financial application systems such as SUN, Peachtree, Banana is desirable.
- Knowledge of employment legislation in Ethiopia.
- Work Experience
- 5 years of working experience on finance roles, with similar responsibilities in an NGO or private enterprise.
- Work experience in international NGO and donor agencies is advantageous.
- Competencies and Other Requirements
- Skills in budgeting and maintaining accounts
- Strong computer skills and experience working with accounting software
- Excellent record keeping and report writing
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good command of English language (written and spoken)
- Ability to handle stress, work under pressure and deliver quality reports
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision, prioritize tasks and to take initiative
- Strong sense of integrity and personal commitment to the goals and values of Helvetas Ethiopia
- Willingness to travel to project and partner offices.
Additional Information:
- Duty Station: Addis Ababa with frequent field visits to project implementing areas.
- Salary & benefits: from 73,440 ETB up to 98,172 ETB
