Job Description

Positive Action for Development (PAD) is an indigenous, non-governmental, humanitarian and development organization and legally registered at Federal level by Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Charities and Societies Agency on June 6/2011 with a registration number 2330.

Based on funding from multiple Donors, PAD is implementing various projects to support the affected communities countries through Education, CCCCM, shelter and NFI, Food security and livelihoods, WASH, Health and Nutrition sectors. PAD is currently implementing 12 + projects in various parts of the country.

Main Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Humanitarian Programs manager and the technical backstopping of the emergency program head, the Food security and livelihoods activity Coordinator will be responsible for leading the implementation and monitoring of PAD food security and livelihoods project activities across the country.

Specific responsibilities include the following

  •  Lead Food security and livelihood activities focused on Voucher based livestock treatments, livestock vaccination campaign, support government animal health service delivery, support nutrition-based livestock restocking, rangeland rehabilitation and stream diversion/flood protection, forage production and coordinate the activities with other technical project activities.
  •  Ensure livelihood activities and procurement plans are well-designed by taking an active role in project work planning and technically guide and coordinate the implementation of these activities.
  • Supervise project site level implementation of project livelihood and food security activities.
  •  Play a lead role coordinating with identified beneficiaries, government and private sector partners on livelihood improvements.
  • Organize and conduct baseline, End line, pre-and post- KAP surveys to realize and evaluate the impact of the project towards communities.
  • Maintain, and improve active and regular working relationships with all stakeholders, cluster, technical working groups and in line with relevant national and internationally recognized standards of accountability representing PAD.
  • Ensures the implementation of food security and livelihoods needs assessment and feasibility studies aimed at the development of proposals in the sector,
  • Verifies and proposes FSL intervention priorities for new project opportunities.
  •  He/she coordinates the staff assigned under his/her management, monitoring their activities; participates to the staff evaluation, together with the project coordinator and Humanitarian Programs manager;
  • Conduct a project impact research in the project areas, share with all the concerned stakeholders and give accurate recommendations that probably be the action plan for the community.
  • Provide strategic thinking, writing and data inputs to project reports on a regular basis.
  • Anticipate challenges in project implementation, identify solutions, and work with the team in problem-solving.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualification:  Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary /DVM/, Animal Science or related fields. Master’s degree or higher in related fields preferred.

Experience: Minimum five years professional experience with livelihood coordination works in voucher-based livestock treatments, concentrated livestock feeding, organizing and conducting training for CAHWs, marketing and agricultural sectors

  •  Willingness and capacity to be flexible when faced with difficult working
  • Flexible and creative approach; keen to take initiative where appropriate.
  • Respect culture, believe in a diverse ethnic and traditional set up.
  •  Experience facilitating relationships between Nongovernmental organization and government.
  •  Ability to work well within a team and take responsibility to deliver results.
  •  Accountability & responsiveness within areas of responsibilities.
  •  Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  •  Able to operate independently and as part of a team.
  •  Previous experience in INGO with experience.
  •  Fluency in written and spoken English, Amharic and knowledge of the local language is an advantage.

Duty Station:Based in Addis Ababa, with frequent travel to the project implementation areas.
