Job Description — HR Officer

Job Title: HR Officer

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: HR Manager / Head of HR

Work Station: Galan

Employment Type: Full-time

1. Job Purpose

The HR Officer supports the effective implementation of HR systems and processes within the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The role ensures compliant recruitment, disciplined HR records management, employee relations support, and alignment of HR practices with Ethiopian labor laws, company policies, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements, and regulatory standards.

2. Key Duties & Responsibilities

A. Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Assist in manpower planning based on production and quality requirements
  • Prepare vacancy announcements and coordinate candidate screening
  • Support interviews and selection documentation
  • Prepare contracts and ensure complete pre-employment files
  • Facilitate induction with emphasis on GMP, safety, and company rules

B. Employee Relations & Discipline

  • Respond to day-to-day employee queries professionally
  • Support disciplinary procedures in line with company code of conduct and labor law
  • Assist in grievance handling and conflict resolution
  • Promote teamwork, ethical behavior, and respectful workplace culture

C. HR Administration & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files (physical & digital)
  • Manage attendance, leave, overtime, and shift records
  • Prepare HR letters, memos, notices, and reports
  • Ensure confidentiality and secure document handling
  • Support HR data needed for audits and regulatory inspections

D. Performance & Training

  • Follow up probation evaluations and renewals
  • Support performance appraisal coordination
  • Assist in identifying training needs, especially related to GMP, safety, SOPs, and compliance
  • Coordinate training logistics and maintain training records

E. Compliance & Policy Implementation

  • Ensure HR practices comply with Ethiopian Labor Proclamation and company policies
  • Support implementation and communication of HR policies and code of conduct
  • Prepare periodic HR reports for management and auditors
  • Support occupational health and safety activities

F. Coordination & Support

  • Liaise with production, QA, QC, engineering and warehouse teams on HR matters
  • Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the HR Manager

5. Working Conditions

  • Work station located at Galan Factory(oromiya)
  • Office-based with frequent coordination across departments and production areas
  • Flexible working hours when needed to support operations

Type of Employment: Permanent.

Salary and Other Benefit Packages: Attractive and can be determined with negotiation based

on the candidate’s previous earning, qualification and competency.

About You

3. Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Management, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum 4-5 years HR experience, preferably in manufacturing (pharmaceutical or similar regulated industry is an advantage)
  • Good understanding of Ethiopian labor laws
  • Experience with HR systems, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to GMP environments is an added advantage
