Maternity Foundation is looking for Interns Internship with Maternity Foundation
Become an intern within data analysis and research, programme management, communication, and/or fundraising.
Maternity Foundation is a Danish based International NGO that works to ensure a safer childbirth for women and newborns, everywhere. Through our Safe Delivery Program, we use digital training- and learning tools to support and train skilled birth attendants, and we work with partners in more than 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the MENA region. We work from a shared vision that it should never cost life to give life.
We are currently looking for one or several interns to support our organization. As an intern with Maternity Foundation, you will become part of the team and together we will define tasks that match our needs with your interests and skills. We are looking for interns within data analysis and research, programme management, communications, or fundraising.
As a team member of Maternity Foundation, you will join our office in Addis Ababa and have colleagues in Ethiopia, India and Copenhagen. We come from various backgrounds – global health, midwifery, development studies, communication, IT, and the business world – and we take pride in an entrepreneurial spirit and a can-do attitude. Together, we are an ambitious and dedicated team working in a warm and informal atmosphere.

As an intern you can be tasked with:
- Collecting and synthesizing country information
- Literature reviews in the field of public health and clinical learning
- Developing content for social media
- Writing and distribution of a bi-annual newsletter
- Supporting press work and story writing
- Mapping fundraising opportunities
- Developing fundraising applications and status reports to donors
- Designing infographics to disseminate project results
- Designing and developing data collection tools, performing data analysis and disseminating findings
- Applying data science tools to the App usage data and generate insights
- Conducting spatial analysis of App data and other available data
- Writing SQL queries and developing PowerBI and Qlik dashboards
- Ad hoc tasks related to project implementation

Job Requirements
Your qualifications
Your field of study is most likely within public health, global health, global development, midwifery, data science, social sciences, health economics, communication, business, and fundraising or the like. In addition, we expect the candidates applying for the internship to have some experience within research, writing, data analysis, communication etc. This could either be from your field of study or from experience gained from previous employments.
To apply for the internship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have an interest in public health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, maternal newborn and child health, humanitarian & development work, research, adult learning, communication
- Have completed a minimum of two years of higher education
- Be fluent in spoken and written English; other language skills would be an asset
Terms and conditions
Please note that the internship is between 20 to 37 hours per week and unpaid. You must be able to begin the internship in January/February 2023 and commit to an internship of at least 6 months.
You will be working at our office in Addis Ababa, and you have the rights to undertake the internship in the location or remotely.
