About Ayuda en Acción:
- Ayuda en Acción Ethiopia is seeking experienced candidates for the position of a project officer based in one for Dubluk and one for Moyale districts to manage AICS funded humanitarian project in Borena. The humanitarian project responds to drought affected communities in Borena through livestock and crop production, risk financing, access to water and cash transfer, asset building and DRM.
- The project officers will vertically report to Borena program Area Manager Borena office with functional line Borena program area Admin and finance coordinator. The Project Officer ensures community mobilization, frontline implementation, monitoring, liaises with government signatories and reporting of planned project activities in the target district and kebele levels. The position ensures quality implementation and adherence to technical standards in line with donor policy, procedure and Ayuda en Acción’s regulations and policies.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of humanitarian activities in line with project objectives, approved project plan and implementation timelines.
- Strengthen compliant feedback mechanisms and ensure that feedback and response mechanism is functional, and complaints are timely addressed to the satisfaction of beneficiaries and others.
- Closely work with area office technical coordinators, area manager and contribute to timely implementation of the project.
- Together with area office staff, relevant Government staff, community representatives undertake community-based targeting and verification of the beneficiaries according to predetermined targeting criteria.
- Mobilize community members and ensure equitable participation of women and men, girls and boys in beneficiary section, training, decision-making and other project activities.
- Prepare timely and accurate project reports, including progress updates, case studies, and lessons learned.
- Monitor and follow up implementation of project activities, ensuring adherence to set standards and timelines.
- Participate in gender and age-disaggregated data in line with projects’ MEAL plans.
- Participate in project reviews and learning processes.
- Share security updates and risk assessment reports with Area Manager.
- Identify capacity gaps of cooperatives, community-based organizations, and suggest capacity building interventions and facilitate their implementation in coordination with area office technical coordinators.
Job Requirements
Knowledge and experience
- BSc/BA degree in Agriculture, Disaster Risk Management, Rural Development, Economics, Development Studies, Sociology, Gender Studies and other related fields.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive responsibility, including at least 2 years in project management at non-governmental organizations with a focus on managing projects in one of several of the following sectors: community mobilization, capacity building, Food Security and livelihood and other related fields.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles, standards, and best practices.
- Experience in Cash transfer, range land management/rehabilitation, and Disaster Risk Reduction strategies.
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, government officials, and partner organizations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
Languages
- Knowledge of a local language and cultural awareness in responsibility.
- Very good written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of Afan Oromo languages is a must.
