Project Overview
The Akaki International Stadium is embarking on Phase III of its development; a critical stage focused on elevating the facility to meet and exceed global benchmarks. This phase encompasses the meticulous construction and integration of a state-of-the-art running track, advanced floodlighting systems, FIFA-certified main football pitches, cutting-edge stadium technology, and all associated infrastructure. General Requirements for the Position
Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence, a collaborative spirit, and an unwavering focus on quality and safety. They should be free from any form of addiction (Whether Behavioral or Substance). All roles require excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex project environment. Experience with large-scale international construction projects is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive Quality Control (QC) plan for Phase III of the Akaki International Stadium project, ensuring all works meet the highest international standards, technical specifications, and client requirements.
- Conduct rigorous and frequent inspections and audits of all construction activities, materials, and installations, including running tracks, floodlighting systems, main football pitches, and stadium technology.
- Perform on-site evaluation and testing of construction materials (e.g., soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, structural steel, welds) in real-time to verify conformance to specifications for quality and durability.
- Document all inspection findings meticulously, report any discrepancies or non-compliance issues, and ensure timely implementation of corrective measures.
- Investigate failures or non-compliance of materials and workmanship during construction, identifying root causes and contributing factors within the framework of applicable codes and standards.
- Establish and maintain quality control standards and benchmarks, developing clear policies and procedures for all QC activities and communicating them effectively to project staff and contractors.
- Collaborate with the Technical Site Engineer and other project teams to address maintenance issues early, ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of the stadium’s infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASTM, ISO, World Athletics, FIFA Quality Programme for Football Turf) for all materials and construction processes.
- Contribute to the project’s sustainability goals by ensuring the quality and durability of sustainable materials and practices, thereby reducing lifecycle costs and environmental impact.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Advanced Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, Masters or PhD in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction quality control or quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a dedicated QC management role on large-scale projects, preferably stadiums or sports facilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in construction materials testing and inspection services.
- Strong analytical thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent communication skills for reporting and problem-solving.
- Familiarity with relevant international standards and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ASTM, EN).
- Experience with quality control for specialized stadium components such as synthetic running tracks (e.g., World Athletics certification procedures) and artificial/hybrid football pitches (e.g., FIFA Quality Pro testing and certification) is highly advantageous.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Course completion is preferred.
