The Storekeeper will ensure smooth operations of Mercy Corps offices, warehouses manage the receipt, dispatch, and inventory keeping of all goods that entered into the storage facilities. Through implementing Mercy Corps Warehousing and Asset Management procedures the storekeeper ensures that all Mercy Corps inventories and assets will be accounted for in accordance with Mercy Corps and donor requirements.

Operations Department provides key support to the entire country program in procurement, asset management, warehouse management, fleet management, and facilities & office management for successful program implementation.

The Position (General Position Summary)

The storekeeper is responsible to assist with all warehouse functions including receiving, storing, and issuing program materials.

Essential Responsibilities (Example Section Below – Adapt to Specific Role)

●      Follow the Mercy Corps Field Warehouse Management Policy.

●      Has a full understanding of Mercy Corps warehouse policies and formats. Assists, as needed in training staff on these policies and forms.

●      Maintain the warehouse inventory and prepare the reports on a monthly basis.

●      Receive the goods as per the description on the purchase order/request. Inspects goods upon delivery and rejects inadequate, broken, lower quality and other items not meeting the requirements of the order.

●      Dispatch goods from the warehouse using appropriate Mercy Corps procedures, Store Release forms, Waybills and update Stock Records.

●      Prepare a report of monthly stocks, end of grant stocks, fiscal year physical counts and other physical counts, as instructed by the supervisor.

●      Display bin cards on each item in the warehouse.

●      Maintain physical and electronic copies of inventory, as per formats and forms provided in the Warehouse Manual.

●      Generate the commodities movement way bills and gate passes.

●      Ensure an independent monthly stock count is conducted and recorded.

●      Conduct themself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

●      2 years minimum of relevant experience

●      Responsible, trustworthy, punctual, hardworking and clean.

●      A working knowledge of English is desired.

●      Must have initiative and work largely unsupervised.

 Success Factors

The successful Storekeeper will assist warehousing tasks in delivering successful programs while demonstrating excellent stewardship of donor funds and compliance with Mercy Corps and donor regulations. They will maintain strong cooperative relationships with other departments and interact effectively with international and national personnel both in a managerial and training capacity while demonstrating the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and process information in support of changing program activities. The most successful Mercy Corps staff members have a solid commitment to teamwork and accountability, thrive in evolving and changing environments and make effective written and verbal communication a priority in all situations.
