The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an International Catholic Organization and the work of the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits). JRS was founded on 14th November 1980 in Rome, Italy.  Over the years, the work of JRS has expanded globally to incorporate the ever-changing needs of refugees, internally displaced persons, migrants and other forcibly displaced persons.  The JRS-Ethiopia programme was established in 1982 two years right after the international office establishment to assist thousands of displaced people (Internal and external), driven from their homes by political unrest and natural disasters. JRS wants to hire qualified professionals for vacant posts of its, Mai-Aini (Shire) operation office.

Part of the Positions’ Responsibilities

  • To Identify and pursue local and regional funding opportunities for delivery of key components of the Women’s Empowerment Program
  • To lead development of proposals for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • To Establish women and girls’ friendly wellness Centre
  • To Establish and/or strengthen referral pathway mechanism to respond to GBV incidents
  • To Provide psychosocial support and counseling services for GBV survivors and their family members
  • To facilitate the provision of  emergency and material support for GBV survivors
  • To Provide capacity building and awareness raising training for leaders and representatives of women, religious and youth associations, local administrative offices, leaders and members of school clubs and other relevant bodies on SGBVs, harmful practices and women and girls rights  and impacts of COVID-19 incidence of SGBVs and on women and girls rights
  • To Organize and conduct sensitization and awareness raising campaigns and events on SGBVs and girls and women rights and harmful traditional practices and COVID-19 pandemic

Terms of Employment

  • One year with renewable contract based on performance & availability of fund

Job Requirements

Qualification

  • B.A or MA in Gender studies , Project management, development studies, Sociology, Social Work or any other related field

MOST OF THE POSITIONS HAVE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience conducting research including designing written surveys, conducting interviews, and analyzing data
  • Knowledge of project cycle management and sphere standards;
  • Only Women will be accepted for Position
  • Experience in developing assessment tools (e.g. questionnaires, focus group discussions);
  • Demonstrated experience and capacity in conducting field-level data collection, data entry, and data analysis;
  •  Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to write clear and well-argued reports;
  • Excellent organization, time and general management skills
  • Knowledge of normal child and adolescent development and issues affecting youth especially women;
  • Ability to provide leadership and healthy role modeling to women;
  • Critical thinking, strong analytical skills and objective judgments;
  •  High degree of competency using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  •  Self-motivated, highly organized team player
  • An entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit
  • Understands cooperative business principles in other sectors;
  • Experience in Project  writing or PCM and reporting
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Commitment to high level of confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Speaking and writing in a second language: English  advantageous
