Woreda Program Coordinator/ Dry Dev / 48 views

Purpose of the Position

·         Coordinating & leading the planning, implementing,, scaling up, ensure MAE, ensure documenting & reporting of Dry Lands Development (DRYDEV) bridging period –in Enhancing Water Management, Food Security, and Rural Commercialization both program, finance and program staff.

·         Marketing DryDev as product to scaling stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities:

·         Lead effectively and efficiently AP level DryDev program, financial, program resources and staff to bring intended outputs, outcomes and impact.
·         Ensure setting up/strengthening Woreda level DryDev steering Committee composed of Woreda Administration, Office of Agriculture, Office of NRM, Office of Water Resource, Office of Cooperative/Marketing , Office of WYC, Farmers Representative, MFI and private partners   and ensure the program governance and structure executed  by being secretariat
·         Provide guidance and ensure implementation of overarching theories of change and result framework  in six interlinked result framework namely sub catchment‐level natural resource management (NRM); on‐farm water and soil management; agricultural commodity production; enhancing market access; financial services linking; local governance and institutional strengthening; planning, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and scaling of learning; and land right through executing following OxC
·         Lead the implementation of the program for increased food production through communal land management, on-farm integrated water harvesting, soil fertility and agroforestry technologies; ensure integrated watershed based development; introduce water buffering technologies for enhanced dry season water availability for multiple uses; public private partnerships and ensure duplication of efforts and resources

 

·         Ensure DryDev scaling principles such as co-learning, cost effectiveness, inclusiveness, climate smart, sustainability and scalability  mainstreamed in to day to day program rolling out
·         Ensure agriculture commodities produced, the producer groups connected to input & financial service providers and better paying market  particularly that of DryDev-I site
·         Prepare quality and timely regular reports and submit the same to AP, concerned GO & HO DryDev team
·         Engage in the preparation of detailed annual activity vs finance, purchase and other required plan and follow up its implementation
·         Network with all relevant Woreda, Zonal and sometimes regional GO, FBO, Research, University, MFI and relevant stakeholders with regard to the program
·         Engage in Identifying best practices and facilitate scaling up, data recording and documenting lessons learned
·         Engage in practicing appropriate tools like CFP, mentoring and etc are effectively practiced within the Program to enhance smooth staff relations and accountability
·         Represent DryDev in meeting and forms  & also other duties as designated by the AP & Program Manager to support the smooth operations and functioning of the program

 

Job Requirements

·         University degree preferably M.Sc in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Food Security, Agricultural Economics or related field.

·         At least 6 years working experience in an integrated agricultural & NRM related discipline

·         Has served in a management/coordination capacity for at least 2 years

·         Must have a clear understanding of major donors’ perspectives, requirements and standards

·         Must have proven analytical/ problem solving abilities

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

·         Excellent interpersonal skills – builds good relationships with internal and external stakeholders and maintain effective collaboration with all staff

·         Appropriate skills and experience in the capacity building and training of staff and partners;

·         Rich experience in handling productive meeting

·         Rich experience communication

·         Experience in monitoring and evaluation

·         Excellent experience in proposal development, budget preparation and report writing;

·         Good knowledge of oral and written English language.

Working Environment / Conditions:

·         50% office work

·         45% field work & domestic travel

·         5% international travel is required.
