Position: Accountant

The Ultimate Insurance Broker is seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and ethical professional to join as an Accountant supporting the Life Claims Department and other financial operations of the company.
Job Purpose
The Accountant is responsible for recording, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions, life claims accounting processes, and assisting in various finance and administrative tasks to ensure accurate financial management, compliance, and operational efficiency across the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Record and process financial transactions, including life insurance claim payments.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate accounting records.
- Perform bank, ledger, and claims reconciliations.
- Assist in processing and verifying payments and supporting documents.
- Prepare periodic financial, operational, and management reports.
- Support budgeting, expense tracking, and financial monitoring activities.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Assist internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation.
- Support general finance and administrative tasks as assigned.
- Coordinate with Life Claims, Finance, and other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
Qualification and Experience
Educational Qualification
- Diploma/ BA Degree in Accounting and Finance from a recognized institution.
Work Experience
- Diploma holders: Minimum 3 years relevant work experience
- Degree holders (BA in Accounting and Finance): Minimum 2 years relevant work experience
- Experience in insurance, banking, or microfinance is an added advantage.
Mandatory Requirement
- Proficiency in Peachtree Accounting Software is mandatory.
Required Competencies
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
- Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Good command of MS Excel and MS Office applications.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Customer service and results-oriented mindset.
