Position Overview:
As the Communication and Resource Mobilization Officer, you will play a vital role in enhancing the visibility, reputation, and resource mobilization efforts of DPO. You will be engaged in developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies, managing external relations, and leading fundraising initiatives to support the organization’s humanitarian and development projects. This position requires a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, a creative mindset, and a proven track record in resource mobilization within the non-profit sector.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a dynamic communication strategy to promote the mission, vision, and impact of DPO across various platforms and channels.
  • Create compelling content, including articles, press releases, blog posts, and social media updates, to engage stakeholders and raise awareness about the organization’s work.
  • Manage the organization’s website and social media accounts, ensuring timely updates, interactive features, and consistent branding.
  • Coordinate with program teams to gather stories, testimonials, and multimedia materials for communication materials, reports, and fundraising appeals.
  • Monitor media coverage and public perception of DPO, proactively addressing any misinformation or reputational risks.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and support for DPO’s programs and initiatives.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, events, and conferences, showcasing our achievements, sharing best practices, and networking with potential supporters.
  • Coordinate visits and field trips for donors, media representatives, and other stakeholders to showcase the impact of our projects and build long-term partnerships.
  • Engage in resource mobilization efforts, including proposal development, donor engagement, and grant management, to secure funding for existing and new projects.
  • Identify and research potential funding opportunities from institutional donors, foundations, corporations, and individual donors, aligning with DPO’s strategic priorities.
  • Engage in preparation of high-quality funding proposals, concept notes, and grant applications, in collaboration with program teams, finance, and monitoring and evaluation staff.
  • Develop and maintain a donor database, tracking donor interests, funding cycles, and reporting requirements, to ensure timely and accurate communication and compliance.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • BA/MA degree in Journalism & Communication, International Relations, English Language & Literature, or related field.
  • 6(for BA) and 4 (for MA) years of relevant experience in communication, public relations, and resource mobilization, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing communication strategies, including content creation, media relations, and digital marketing.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and persuasive communication materials for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in resource mobilization/fundraising, donor relations, and grant management, with a successful track record of securing funding from institutional donors, foundations, and other sources.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian and development issues, as well as familiarity with donor landscape, funding trends, and compliance requirements in the non-profit sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Creative thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented approach to achieving organizational objectives.
  • Proficiency in English is required, knowledge of other languages is an asset.
