About CPAR Ethiopia The Canadian physician for aid and relief (CPAR) is a Canadian based international NGO which is founded in 1984 in response to the extreme famine. CPAR employee’s partnership approach with sectors, individuals, institutions, communities and governments with the greater aim to build healthy communities in Africa. Through time CPAR shifted its focus from humanitarian to development programs with the focus on the health systems strengthening. In line with the central focus, CPAR has developed a new project titled “Commemorating Victims of Ethiopian Airlines 302 by Empowering Disadvantaged High School Students in Addis Ababa”.

About the project Commemorating Victims of Ethiopian Airlines 302 by Empowering Disadvantaged High School Students in Addis Ababa, planned to be implemented from April 2023 to March 31 2027. With the general objectives to commemorate the victims of Ethiopian airlines flight 302 disasters through creating an empowered, positive and motivated high school students who positively influence development agendas. The intended project will aim to address the challenges of the disadvantaged students in selected public schools of Addis Ababa and empower them to play a positive and exemplary leadership role in their respective schools and community.

The project is expected to be managed with the active participation of the school community and families of the victims of 302 flight. The project will pursue three main areas of focus: – Deliver innovative and impactful activities to commemorate the victims of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 by creating an empowered, positive and motivated cadre of high school students who will positively influence the peace building and educational sustainable development goal. – Promote social inclusion, and positive and healthy lifestyles among the targeted public high school students that are gender-responsive. Commemorating victims of flight ET_302 by empowering disadvantaged high school students in Addis Ababa. – Transform the physical environment of the targeted schools through integrating school gardening and environmental protection activities that will also address nutritional challenges flowing from poverty

Purpose of the consultancy

The intended project will aim to address the challenges of the disadvantaged students in selected public schools of Addis Ababa and empower them to play a positive and exemplary leadership role in their respective schools and community. Through there are a number of different modalities needs to effect in order to attain the desired objectives, In this regard, development of youth friendly information communication materials and Behavioral Change communication (BCC) digital BILLBOARD that deal with social inclusion, students engagement in development agendas, volunteerism, and gender equality and positive and healthy life style in line with the project objectives, in simple, easy-to-understand language with clear message and illustrated by pictures basing the school context in particular and the community at large are of critical tools for pertinent social and behavior change. The youth friendly information communication materials are expected to deal with scientific information, practical knowledge, and sociocultural perspective of social inclusion, gender equality and positive and healthy life style. The contents will be delivered in forms brochures and posters.
