Job Title: Innovation and Product Development Officer

Reports to: Innovation and Product Development Manager

Location: Head Office, Addis Ababa

  1. Job Summary:

    Under the instruction and supervision of the Innovation and Product Development Division Manager, the Senior Market Research Officer undertakes assessment to identify customer needs, competitive environment and initiates and conduct feasibility studies on product and development; participate in the implementation of corporate and business unit strategic & operational plans properly.

  2. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
    1. Execute its assigned tasks in the Division Manager’s effort to implement the product development activities of the company;
    2. Conduct overall internal and external environment assessment, SWOT analysis to assess customer needs, potential new business, competitive environment, identifies gaps and proposes alternative remedial courses of action;
    3. Participate in studies on product development to expedite product/service diversification;
    4. Conduct market analysis, industry benchmarking, and competitor assessments to identify growth opportunities;
    5. Participate in product development and in identifying and adopting emerging technology;
    6. Conduct feasibility studies for new products, new investments or business projects to ensure the viability of new business ventures and establishment of new business lines;
    7. Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of improved management systems with the view to create opportunities for improvement;
    8. Utilizes resource in areas of responsibilities as provided in annual work plan and budget within authorized limits;
    9. Prepares and submits reports on product development and innovation;
    10. Performs other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
  3. Minimum Requirement

    B.A Degree in Economics or Management or Accounting or other business related fields with 2 years related work experience

  • Knowledge of overall business, economic and government policy environment
  • Knowledge of product development principles and practices
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic knowledge of relevant software application skills

    B.A Degree in Economics or Management or Accounting or other business related fields with 2 years related work experience

  4. Communication and interpersonal skills
  5. Basic knowledge of relevant software application skills
