ROLE PURPOSE

 My Body My Future (MBMF) II project will be implemented for the period 2022-2025. The Project is a continuation of ongoing Finnish MFA supported programme and the impact is that children, adolescents and youth in all their diversity have control over their bodies and futures in a healthy, safe and supportive environment. The project will be implemented in Bahir Dar Zuria and Fagita Lekoma districts in Amhara region and Oromia Region in Kersa district.

Plan International Ethiopia is looking for communication and Influencing Officer. The post holder is responsible for the implementation of the MBMF II communication strategy with an aim of empower adolescent girls to be free from harmful practices and enjoy their sexual and reproductive health rights through internal and external communications and public relations activities that build visibility, image and brand; increase knowledge and awareness of Plan in Ethiopia.

Accountability  and Responsibilities 

 Communication and Influencing Officer Intervention; Support the implementation of the project’s communication strategies interventions.

Expected Outcomes:

·       Manage the preparation and production of IEC-BCC materials including brochures, flyers, newsletters, posters, and films, and preparing other communications material items related with   MBMF II project implementation.

·       Manage and facilitate any Comms mission and events the communications and /marketing department undertake in the project areas.

·       Provide support in developing key messages regarding MBMF II project thematic areas.

·       Collaboratively manage and coordinate social media contents including the Workplace platform

·       Provide communication support to Smart Up Factory of the project intervention

·       Prepare quarterly, biannually and annual communications updates

·       Identify the major influencing issues and agendas of the project and propose actions working together with the Influencing and Communication team

·       Coordinate and lead Pas and projects campaigns and influencing/advocacy initiatives

·       Compile and share local level influencing agenda for wider learning/scaling up and knowledge management sharing.

·       Shall perform any other duties as assigned by the Program Area Manager and the project manager

·       Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures

·       Ensure quality and timely reporting and documenting of project activities including preparation of quarterly/yearly program progress reports;

 Expected Outcomes:

·       In collaboration with the project team and stakeholders compile and document lessons learned and best practices of SRHR project

·       Design and implement dissemination plan to share knowledge and findings with relevant stakeholders, including implementing partner organizations, government, donor agency, and direct beneficiaries specifically adolescent girls and boys etc.

·       As an integral member of the project team, ensure high quality data and learnings are available to inform planning, implementation and decisions

·       Contribute to regular project narrative reports, ensuring high quality data and learnings are available to complete reports on time

·       Identify and develop / improve opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, innovativeness of practices, processes and overall learning and development with Plan International Ethiopia

Job Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURS REQUIRED

Skills and Knowledge

·       B.A. Degree in Communication, Journalism (print/web), English Language and Literature, Public Relations & Information Management or related field from a recognized educational institution.

·       A minimum of three years relevant work experience, preferably in international humanitarian and development organizations or media houses.

  • Ability to analyse complex information from different sources and to synthesize this information into coherent and appropriate knowledge and communication products
  • Ability to develop creative communication ideas, to identify and develop engaging stories, and to generate inspiring and accessible messages.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritizing to meet tight deadlines.

·       Computer Proficiency in MS Word, EXCEL, publisher, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Access.

·       Excellent written and verbal English skills and report writing skills.

·       Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.

·       Excellent level of integrity, flexibility, innovation and team work.

·       Excellent capacity and experience in news writing, layout, designing and media relations.

·       Knowledge of additional local languages of Plan International Ethiopia’s Program area is an asset.
