Invitation to Conduct an Assessment on the Situation of Child Rights in Garments Manufacturing Industry 72 views

Organization for Social Development (OSD) has been operational in Ethiopia since 2003. It has been engaged with diverse partners and stakeholders including Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations, Ministry of Women, Children, and Youth, child led structures, and private businesses to promote human welfare, democracy and good governance and maximize the role of the private sector in promoting responsible business that respect the human rights of children, youth and women.

With the support of Sida Civil Society Program, Save the Children and its partners have been implementing child rights and business programming for the past four years. OSD with the support of Save the Children is planning to conduct an assessment to generate evidence on the situation of garment industries in relation to child rights and business. The study will provide insights into drivers for risks and impacts and identify important gaps and the potential to build responsible supply chains. It should further assess stakeholders’ awareness of supply chain risks, the Due Diligence Guidance and the level of implementation of due diligence initiatives, as well as related government initiatives that could be leveraged.

Interested candidates should apply by presenting the following documents

  • A concept note/ technical proposal presenting relevance to the eligibility criteria and detail presentation of the idea on research in accordance to presented objectives. The concept note/ technical proposal should include methodology and a timeline for the implementation. The concept note can be submitted online or in hard copies to OSD.
  • Financial Proposal that indicates the all-inclusive fixed total contract price, supported by a breakdown of costs.
  • Evidence showing successful accomplishment of at least two previous similar assignments.
  • A proof legal entity status (required)

Job Requirements

Eligibility Criteria 

  • The individual consultant or the firm should have proven track record in conducting similar researchers in garments manufacturing sector in Ethiopia, Africa and other parts of the World. Regional and international experience is an additional merit and given high consideration in the selection process.
  • The individual consultant or the firm could be nationally or internationally located. The location of origin will not affect the selection process.
  • Being able to conduct the assessment considering Covid 19 spread and related movement restrictions. It is expected that method of data collection should take into consideration Covid 19 spread and related restrictions being presented in the concept note.
  • A solid record of managing and coordinating high quality research projects in short period.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Child Rights and Business Principles (CRBPs), Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains in the Garment and Footwear Sector and other relevant tools.
