Brief Organizational Introduction and Project Overview:

REACH Ethiopia is a nonprofit organization registered as an Ethiopian Residents Charity, dedicated to community development through innovative projects. Since 2013, it has implemented community-based TB care and integrated health service projects in Sidama, Central Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, Tigray, parts of Oromia and Afar Regions. Currently, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Regional Health Bureaus, REACH Ethiopia is implementing various projects including new project called USAID-Urban TB LON-II.

The USAID URBAN TB LON II Project is an ambitious initiative aimed at addressing the urban tuberculosis (TB) challenge in Ethiopia. Focused on the city administrations of Addis Ababa, Shaggar, Harar, and Diredawa, the project’s primary goals include identifying missed TB cases, delivering patient-centered care, and fostering innovative solutions to combat TB. This project is pivotal in enhancing TB detection and treatment, with an overarching aim to reduce TB prevalence and mortality in urban environments.

Position Summary: The Radiographer is a vital role within the USAID URBAN TB LON II Project. This position involves performing radiographic examinations, primarily chest X-rays, to assist in the detection and diagnosis of tuberculosis in various urban settings. The Radiographer will work closely with medical teams and must be prepared for frequent travel to different project sites. The role requires a professional with strong technical skills in radiography, a commitment to patient care, and the ability to adapt to varied clinical environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Radiographic Examinations:

  • Conduct chest X-rays and other radiographic examinations as required for TB diagnosis.
  • Ensure high-quality imaging standards are met.

Equipment Maintenance and Operation:

  • Maintain and calibrate radiographic equipment.
  • Manage the inventory of radiographic supplies and materials.

Patient Care:

  • Provide appropriate patient care during radiographic examinations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.

Collaboration with Health Teams:

  • Work closely with medical staff to interpret radiographic findings.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and discussions.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Record and report findings from radiographic examinations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and radiographic logs.

Quality Control and Safety:

  • Implement and monitor radiation safety measures.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.

Travel and Field Work:

  • Travel frequently to project sites for radiographic examinations.
  • Adapt to varying field conditions and work environments.
  • Other tasks as assigned  by immediate supervisor

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Contract Term: Full time Position, Fixed Term Contract

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Radiography or related field.
  • Valid license to practice as a radiographer.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in radiography, with experience in chest radiography preferred.
  • Knowledge of TB diagnosis and treatment is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites within Ethiopia.
  • Proficiency in English and local languages.
